There is nothing better than a jar of homemade pickles.Every summer during the month of June, it’s pickling time in Peggy’s kitchen. It has truly become a family effort and is a fun filled day of washing, packing and lots of visiting. My recipe has trickled down from my Aunt’s mother-in-law. So for 60 something years I’ve been eating the same dill pickles. We also make bread and butter pickles and have used that same recipe as well. This year we made 100 quarts and they will be enjoyed by all the family as well as special gifts to friends. This is my way of keeping some of my German heritage and spending time with my family. Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course Update.Work continues on the major upgrade at Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course. Fairways have been re-contoured & updated irrigation system has been installed. There are now 48 challenging bunkers, & water comes into play on 10 holes. Industry standard 419 Bermuda grass has been planted on the fairways, while Champion Ultra Dwarf will cover the greens. The reopening is on schedule for September at this point.
