From Texas Comptroller

The Consumer Confidence Index first appeared in the 1960s, measuring consumer attitudes toward current and future economic conditions. Research has shown that the Index can help predict spending on big-ticket purchases such as houses, cars, high-end electronics and other items that may need financing.

  • The  Texas region’s (Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma) January Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) topped out at 90.8, a 26 percent increase from the January 2010 Index. The Texas region’s CCI last eclipsed the 90 mark back in September 2008.

Our weekly Tracking the Texas Economy updates feature snapshots of Texas economic indicators, including housing, industrial production, employment and more.
