Close to home is a great attraction for adults and children alike.The Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic site’s Sauer Beckmann Living History Farm in Stonewall is a German Farmstead in action just as it was for early 1900s settlers. You can see them making soap, feeding the animals and many other day to day activities done in the early days.

A great way to use those Easter eggs: Creamy Cajun Deviled Eggs
8 eggs; 3 oz cream cheese at room temperature; 2 tbl spoons Miracle Whip; 1 tbl sweet pickle relish; 1/4 tsp hot sauce; salt and pepper to taste; 1/4 tsp cajun seasoning or to taste
1.Place eggs into a saucepan, cover with cold water, and place over high heat. When water is boiling, cover saucepan with a lid, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 18 minutes. Remove from heat and cool eggs under cold running water until eggs can be handled. Peel eggs.
2.Cut eggs in half lengthwise and scoop yolks into a mixing bowl. Beat yolks, cream cheese, creamy salad dressing, pickle relish, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper until mixture is creamy and smooth. Spoon yolk mixture into egg white halves. Sprinkle each deviled egg half lightly with Cajun seasoning. Chill before serving.

The Annual Fish Fry will be held on Apri

The Annual Fish Fry will be held on April 26th at 5:00pm at the Marketplatz. Entertainment will be the Almost Patsy Cline Band. A live auction and raffle will be held. There will be many prizes with BIG prizes to include quite a few guns and flat screen TVs!!! Come out and support your local volunteer fire department! Contact the fire department for more details. We are very fortunate to have so many volunteers willing to serve our community. Be sure to support this fund raiser event.

“Whimsies” is the name of the Hill country Memorial Hospital gift shop. They offer merchandise that can be whimsical and fun, but sometimes practical. Easter Breakfast Casserole 1 lb bacon; 1

Easter Breakfast Casserole
1 lb bacon; 1/4 cup diced onions; 1/4 cup diced green pepper; 3 cups cheddar cheese; 8 eggs; 2 cups milk; 16 oz frozen hash browns
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 7×11 inch casserole dish.
2.Fry the bacon in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Crumble.
3.In a large bowl beat together eggs and milk. Mix in cheese, bacon, onion and green pepper. Stir in the thawed hash browns. Pour mixture into prepared casserole.
4.Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 30 minutes until eggs have set.

Did you know? The Fredericksburg Food & Wine Fest was started by Bob Oberhellman in the late 80’s for ongoing development of Market Square? Having raised close to $900,000 over the years, the Market Square Redevelopment commission has funded a custom playground cover, partial funding of the Fest room and Catering Kitchen, arbors and continued beautification projects. This year the celebration which will feature 29 wineries and 45 specialty boohts will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014.
